Pat Hartwell McLean had a pleasant surprise at her pond this week. A Black Crowned Night Heron arrived on April 18th, and stayed for a day, then went on its way.Diane

That's a female Ruby-Crowned Kinglet. A good sighting. In my experience less common than Yellow-rumped Warblers. The males have a nice distinctive song.
